Silver Stag CutleryManufactured in the Pacific Northwest, Silver Stag cutlery products have captured the essence of a bygone era by combining skilled American labour with natural raw materials to produce one of a kind functional field tools. Silver Stag products are manufactured with stain resistant, Damascus or High Carbon tool steel. The Silver Stag product line includes various designs, each classified into a Series based on the design, antler, and steel used in the manufacturing process.

Crown Series:-
A popular Series featuring 440C stain resistant steel, the highest strength hardness, and wear resistance of all the stainless steel, (post heat treatment). 440C is an established high carbon stainless alloy and has the ability to retain excellent hardness and wear resistance, (440C is heat treated to a 54-56 Rockwell). The Crown Series is manufactured primarily with Whitetail, Mule Deer, and occasionally Elk antler.
The blade designs range from 2 3/4" to over 11" in length and every knife is accompanied with a handmade leather sheath.

Damascus Series:-
Historians have found that Damascus steel, formally known as Wootz steel, originated in Asia over two thousand years ago, (200 BC). Damascus steel gained popularity throughout the Roman era and was commonly used to make armor and weapons. Damascus steel regained its popularity in the mid 18th century when a Swedish scientist discovered that the original wootz steel contained carbon as the dominate element in the ancient steel. Swedish companies began reproducing Damascus steel on an industrial scale and began using Damascus steel to make gun barrels. Thus, the first crucible steel manufacturing began in 1774.
Silver Stag Damascus blades are manufactured using the same ancient process. The Damascus is created by forge welding multiple layers of steels, some that contain nickel, into a solid block called a billet, (Silver Stag contains 1094 & 15N20 high carbon tool steels). The billet is folded and re-welded several times to produce layers (Silver Stag Damascus = 100 to 150 layers). Patterns are created by manipulating the steel during the forge welding process. (Silver Stag offers a random and twist pattern). When the billet is finished, blades are formed out of the layered steel billet block. When acid is added to the blade, it attacks the layers of hard and soft steels differently, highlighting the attractive layered pattern in the blade. The combination of layered hard and soft steel creates blade flexibility, toughness and produces invisible serrations on the blade that aid cutting. Silver Stag Damascus blades are the best flesh cutting blades on the market, period!

Sword Series:-
Swords of Medieval Europe (approximately 500 to 1500 AD), evolved from Celtic swords, which in turn arose from a tradition of straight, double edged swords which began as early as 1500 BC. At the beginning of the 18th century, swords evolved into blades approximatley two feet in length and were designed for mobility. The blades were affixed to a wood, metal, or occasionally, a bone handle. As Europeans conquered the frontiers of New Spain, (what is now Northern Mexico and the Southwestern United States), soldiers, cattleman and fur trappers often used these swords as a weapon or as a basic survival tool.
