PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The worldwide enthusiasm for our unique Boker M4 Sherman Damascus quickly convinced us to design a classic model with the historic Damascus steel. The traditional Boker Barlow is significantly more compact compared to the original model and not only cuts a particularly good figure in the knife showcase, but also convinces as a pocket-friendly gentleman's knife in everyday life. The blade consists of the incomparable Sherman Damascus, is opened with a nail nick and does not lock. The operating safety of the historic slipjoint -pocket knife is additionally increased by a 90 degree detent when opening and closing. The striking teardrop shape of the Barlow can be traced back to the English pocket knives of the 17th century, making it one of the oldest models of all. The name of the classic probably goes back to an enterprising knife manufacturer from Sheffield who started exporting the robust knives to North America around 1800. There they enjoyed great popularity right away and so the first Barlow models appeared at the end of the 19th century in the history of the Böker manufactory.
The American M4 Sherman was designed in 1940 and is still considered one of the most famous tanks in history. Produced between 1942 and 1945, it entered service until 1957 and saw action in all the battlefields of World War II - not just the United States and Canada, but also Britain, the Free French Forces, China and even the Soviet Union. The Sherman was built almost 50,000 times and is the most frequently used tank by the Allies in World War II. It was manufactured in countless application-specific variations and used well into the Cold War. Together with the Americans in Wartime Museum in Virginia, we managed to preserve an important piece of lost history.
The Böker Barlow M4 Sherman Damascus features a unique Damascus blade forged from various materials from the production of M4 Sherman tanks previously restored by the museum. Hand forged for us by Chad Nichols in a Customized Ladder pattern, the unique 80-layer Damascus is reminiscent of the armor marks left in the ground by the heavy tracks of the M4 Sherman. The integrally constructed Barlow features jute micarta handle scales , the color of which is reminiscent of the authentic US Army and Marine Corps camouflage finish. The CNC from the solid-milled handles made of stainless steel also form the characteristic bolsters and are ground by hand to a matt finish. With high-quality felt case for storage, certificate of authenticity and individual serial number. Handcrafted in the Boker knife factory in Solingen.
